Bautista (knee) went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in short-season Auburn's win over Williamsport on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The outfielder is still rehabbing after suffering a torn ACL, LCL and meniscus last season at Triple-A Syracuse. "Every morning (Doubledays manager Rocket Wheeler) comes to me and tells me what I have to do -- trying to get in the field and feeling good," Bautista told MiLB.com. "Asking me how I feel because of my injury. It feels great, I've been feeling really, really good after my injury." The hits Wednesday were just his third, fourth and fifth in nine games with Auburn (34 at-bats). It may be a little while yet before he's back with the team's top affiliate.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
Bautista excelled in his first season at Double-A in 2016, posting an impressive .344 OBP and swiping 56 bases in the process. The speedster has proven he can reach base consistently and can be a menace on the basepaths. However, his inability to hit for power has hurt him. With just four home runs in 607 plate appearances last year, he managed a measly .341 slugging percentage, something he will have to improve if he wants to become more than a major league bench player. Washington seems to be banking on this, as they added Bautista to their 40-man roster after the 2016 season, protecting him from the Rule 5 draft. Although he will likely start the season in Double-A or Triple-A, watch for the 22-year-old to work his way up the ranks and possibly earn a late callup for speed alone.
