For the fourth season in a row, Villarreal shuttled back-and-forth between Cincinnati and Triple-A Louisville, posting a 3.42 ERA in 50 innings of middle relief. His low strikeout rate and FIP-ERA suggested that he overachieved, and the Reds agreed, non-tendering him in early December. The 28-year old will likely land a minor league deal over the offseason and might even get another taste of the majors somewhere, but it's hard to imagine him landing a fantasy-friendly role.
