Strong early returns in rookie ball

Pineda is hitting .289/.396/.489 with a homer, two doubles, two triples and two steals through his first 15 games in the Arizona Complex League.
ANALYSIS
Did we mention that he's just 17? Pineda garnered rave reviews this spring, and now that he's finally seeing game action, he isn't disappointing. The Dominican outfielder has big power potential and pretty good speed, too. While he's several years from the big leagues, Pineda has the potential to be an impact player, so dynasty-league managers should check in on him as he's still likely floating around on a lot of waiver wires.

2021 Fantasy Outlook
Pineda signed with the Athletics for seven figures on Jan. 15, 2021. A 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed outfielder from the Dominican Republic, Pineda should develop plus power and could also be a plus runner early in his career. He has explosive bat speed and elevates the ball with ease. His ceiling comp is something along the lines of Justin Upton -- a player who begins his pro career in center field as a power/speed threat and eventually slows down and ends up in right field. It is unclear if Pineda will get assigned to the AZL or Dominican Summer League, but if he comes stateside and performs up to his billing, his fantasy stock will rise in a hurry.

Likely to sign with A's
OFFree Agent  A
April 7, 2020
Pineda is expected to sign with the A's for a little more than $4 million once the 2020-21 international signing period begins, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
He is not the clear-cut best prospect in this class (although he is in that conversation), but he is currently expected to get the largest signing bonus. A 6-foot, 180-pound right-handed outfielder, Pineda has significant power potential and is a good enough runner to remain in center field for the time being. The international signing period typically begins July 2, but MLB has the ability to delay the start date until as late as Jan. 15, 2021.
