Let go by Twins
Dean was released by the Twins on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of ZoneCoverage.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Dean returned from Korea on a minor-league contract this offseason but couldn't convince the Twins to keep him around. As a 29-year-old with a 6.28 ERA in his lone big-league season back in 2016, he's unlikely to make a significant impact at the top level this year.

2017 Fantasy Outlook
After posting a 2.82 ERA at Triple-A in 2015, Dean made nine starts in the majors last season with the Twins rotation thin on depth. He predictably struggled with a strikeout rate typically lower than 5.0 K/9 in the minors. While he's had decent groundball rates in the minors and has solid control, it's not enough in the majors to overcome his lack of velocity (89.5 mph average fastball). He signed a contract to play in South Korea in 2017.
