2025 Fantasy Outlook
Triantos has one of the best hit tools in the minors, but he appears blocked at the big-league level in Chicago. His game is similar to Nico Hoerner's, as he has as plus hit tool and below-average power with the speed and instincts to steal 30-plus bases. He slashed .300/.346/.427 with an 87.8 percent contact rate and an 11.1 percent strikeout rate in 485 plate appearances across Double-A and Triple-A. However, he managed seven homers in 89 games at Double-A and zero homers in 26 games at Triple-A, while logging a higher soft-hit rate (21.0%) than hard-hit rate (19.5%). Triantos is not as good of a defender as Hoerner, but he can play above-average defense at second base or third base, so he should get a shot a some point, either via an injury ahead of him or a trade to a less crowded roster. Matt Shaw, the No. 13 overall pick in 2023, would probably get a look over Triantos if Hoerner were traded, so the fastest way for Triantos to get big-league at-bats might be via an offseason trade. Past Fantasy Outlooks
2024
2022
Nobody upped their dynasty stock more in the Arizona Fall League than Triantos. We already knew he was one of the best contact hitters in the minors (14.1 career K%), but he really struggled to hit for power, especially for a bat-first prospect. He was one of the youngest players in the AFL and ranked second in slugging (.679) while hitting three home runs in 22 games. The 6-foot-1 utilityman only hit four home runs in 83 regular season games primarily played at High-A, where he registered a .105 ISO, so this relative power breakout in the AFL is much needed. The AFL is a hitter-friendly environment, but Triantos only needs to be in the 10-20 homer range to potentially provide significant offensive value. He has a career .284 average and .350 OBP and hit .417 with a .495 OBP in the AFL. There's a chance he could be a leadoff or No. 2 hitter if he maxes out. Triantos, who turned 21 in January, went 25-for-30 on stolen-base attempts last year, but he isn't very fast, so don't expect more than 10-15 steals in a big-league season. Now that he seems to be accessing adequate power, the biggest flaw in his game is defense. His subpar defense at second base and left field will slow his climb to the majors.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Could fill in at second base
Triantos is an option to fill in at second base for the Cubs next season if Nico Hoerner isn't fully recovered from flexor tendon surgery, Andy Martinez of the Marquee Sports Network reports.
ANALYSIS
Hoerner underwent surgery in October and the Cubs haven't offered any sort of timeline for his return to game action. If he's not ready for Opening Day, Triantos and Matt Shaw are two of the top in-house options. Of the two, Triantos would seem less likely, given he won't turn 22 until January and spent most of the 2024 season at Double-A Tennessee. Triantos batted .300/.346/.427 with seven homers and 47 stolen bases over 115 games between Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa.
