Ian Thomas

Bypassing the Triple-A level, Thomas made the jump to the major leagues at the start of last season, with the team needing a second lefty reliever to pair up with Luis Avilan. Thomas fared well in his first month, allowing just one run on five hits and zero walks in his first eight appearances. A couple of poor outings in May marred his overall numbers and resulted in his demotion back to the minors late in the month. The 27-year-old struggled to get back on track, posting a 4.30 ERA and 1.30 WHIP in 13 appearances across three minor league levels, and his name was not included among the team's September callups. Like former teammate Chasen Shreve, Thomas posted a reverse platoon split during his time with the big club, making it unlikely he'll take on a true specialist role, if he even manages to break camp with Atlanta.
