2024 Fantasy Outlook
It's always exciting when a teenage pitcher breaks out and showcases frontline upside in rookie ball, even if we know the odds are stacked against them staying on a linear developmental track. Lalane was the talk of the Florida Complex League last summer, showcasing the potential for three or more plus pitches with plus control in a 6-foot-7 frame. He also happens to throw from the left side. His fastball sits in the mid-90s (touches 97 mph) and it gets on hitters in a hurry, given his extension. His mid-80s changeup and high-70s breaking ball are excellent pitches as well. Lalane's father played for the Dominican Republic's national basketball team, and he should be able to maintain his athleticism as he adds muscle. Lalane could be the game's best pitching prospect in a year, but arm injuries and/or delivery issues (given his size) could pop up any moment.
