Signs minors deal with Tigers
Ward signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Saturday, Brittany Ghiroli of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Ward was at least a fringe prospect at one point in his career, but he's now a 26-year-old with no big-league experience to his name. He's only played 47 career Triple-A games, posting a modest .255/.309/.448 slash line.

2015 Fantasy Outlook
Ward played against older competition as a 19-year-old in Low-A last season and didn't look out of place, showing hints of the left-handed power that the Nationals hope he eventually grows into. That growth will almost certainly take him across the diamond to first base down the road, but at this point, the Nats still have him playing the hot corner. Ward struck out a lot, and his 10 home runs don't look that impressive out of context, but he showed a good batting eye and a solid foundation at the plate that he can build upon. He's a long way from the majors, but a strong showing at High-A this season will get him on a lot of top prospect lists heading into 2016.
