Cut loose by Twins
Fisher was released by the Twins on Saturday, Brandon Warne of Access Twins reports.
ANALYSIS
Fisher missed out on an Opening Day roster spot as a non-roster invitee this spring and failed to make a case for a promotion while with Triple-A St. Paul, hitting just .158/.259/.305 in 27 games. That line means he'll almost certainly be stuck searching for a minor-league deal on the open market.

For a lower-tier fantasy option, Fisher is an intriguing evaluation heading into 2021. Though the small-sample size caveat is applicable -- he earned only 39 plate appearances -- Fisher showcased some of the skill that made him a promising prospect a few seasons ago. For the first time in any stint of his career he posted a strikeout rate below 30%, backed by an increased 67.7% contact rate. If he can carry that improved contact rate into this season and beyond, Fisher may be able to unlock some of the power he's flashed inconsistently in past seasons. Across 241 batted balls in his career, Fisher has posted a 9.5% barrel rate, 91.3 mph average exit velocity and a 42.9% hard hit rate -- all above the average MLB marks. Unfortunately, Toronto appears ready to move on without him as a major part of the plans, having brought in George Springer in free agency.
