ANALYSIS
Webb underwent Tommy John surgery in early June, and it seems that the White Sox weren't impressed enough with his recent performance to keep him on the roster during his rehabilitation. The right-hander does have a decent history of missing bats, although his fastball velocity has been decreasing over the past few seasons, which could make it tough to sign anything beyond a minor league deal during the offseason.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2016
2015
2014
Webb was once seen as a potential closer of the future for the White Sox. However, he did not earn a spot in the club’s thin bullpen until late-May, and he posted a WHIP over 2.00 once he was aboard. He used to threaten triple digits with his fastball, but it averaged closer to 94 with little movement. He will fight for a middle relief spot come 2016.
Webb seemed like a perpetual dark horse closer candidate for much of 2014, but never elevated from his seventh/eighth-inning role. He can touch 99 with his fastball, but was just as likely to throw that pitch for a ball as a strike. He will have to settle for a setup role in 2015 if the walks remain a chronic issue.
Webb jumped three minor league levels in 2013 en route to a September promotion to the White Sox's bullpen. His high-90s fastball helped him strike out 78 across 62.2 minor league innings, but it is worth noting that his walk rate rose to 5.6 BB/9 once he started facing more patient and experienced batters in Triple-A. If Webb can get those walks under control, he could be primed for a late-inning role in 2014 or 2015.
