Ideally it would have happened several months earlier, but Bailey made his stateside debut during the fall instructional league and was one of the most impressive White Sox prospects on the circuit. The Panamanian corner outfielder is known in dynasty leagues at this point for the offensive onslaught he put forth (166 wRC+) in the Dominican Summer League in 2019, so it is encouraging to see that he is still trending in the right direction, albeit without any statistical confirmation. At 6-foot-4, 215 pounds, the 19-year-old's body could trend in the wrong direction, or he could put in the necessary work to stay in the outfield mix -- right now he is the same size as Kyle Lewis. His ability to walk more than he struck out in the DSL and hold his own against much more advanced pitchers during instructs suggests he could hit for average and get on base at strong clips to go with at least plus power.
Just from watching Bailey, a 6-foot-5, 225-pound outfielder dripping with tools and athleticism, and then looking at what he did in his pro debut as a 17-year-old in the Dominican Summer League, one would assume he received seven figures as a high-priority signing on July 2, 2018. On the contrary, he received just $35,000 out of Panama in April of 2019, but is now Chicago's best teenage prospect. He logged a 166 wRC+, 21.4 BB% and 16.5 K% while putting his above-average speed to work (10-for-12 on SB attempts) on the bases. It is unclear how his speed will age, but power is probably going to be his calling card as he climbs the ranks. He will need to make some adjustments, particularly cutting down his 54.3 GB% and upping his 29.1 Oppo%, but Bailey projects to develop at least plus power. Given his lack of pedigree, he is a sneaky target in the middle rounds of first-year-player drafts.
