2020 Fantasy Outlook
The recipient of the third-largest signing bonus ($3.9 million) in the July 2, 2019 international signing class, Lora is already bigger (6-foot-5, 230 pounds) than most big-league sluggers and he won't turn 18 until September. This is not a good thing. The most underrated aspect of scouting 16- and 17-year-olds is accurately predicting how their body will evolve in the coming years. Lora could be close to 300 pounds in his early-20s if he doesn't follow a very regimented diet and cardio plan going forward. Given his size, it's no surprise that power is his top tool. He could be a 40-homer hitter pretty easily if he makes enough contact. That is a big if, however, and that's assuming he keeps his body at a playable weight. Let someone else pay for the pedigree associated with his signing bonus. Instead, take J-2 classmate and teammate Maximo Acosta, who is less heralded but has a higher realistic ceiling.
