2025 Fantasy Outlook
Faedo has struggled as a starter in the majors but has maybe found a role as a decently reliable reliever. For his career, the 29-year-old has a 5.00 ERA as a starter compared to a 3.44 ERA out of the bullpen. Last year was Faedo's first time working primarily as a reliever, and he saw his average fastball velocity tick up about 1 mph from 2023. Based on those results, Faedo should once again slot into Detroit's bullpen in 2025. He should see some high-leverage work, but the righty figures to be behind the likes of Jason Foley, Tyler Holton, Will Vest and Beau Brieske for save opportunities. A middle relief role isn't particularly friendly for fantasy purposes, so Faedo will have limited appeal, though his value may be higher in leagues that count holds. He could also see a spike if he starts to get save chances at some point. Read Past Outlooks
Moved to 60-day IL
The Tigers transferred Faedo (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Friday.
ANALYSIS
Faedo was placed on the IL on Aug. 25 with a strained right shoulder, and the injury is severe enough to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season. He's received a platelet-rich plasma injection to address the shoulder strain but is expected to have a normal offseason. In 57.1 innings with the Tigers this season, Faedo logged a 3.61 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP.

In his second MLB season, Faedo showed some signs of progress. After posting a 5.53 ERA and 1.64 WHIP as a rookie in 2022, he lowered those figures to 4.45 and 1.05, respectively. Faedo didn't miss a ton more bats, as his K/9 climbed from 7.38 to just 8.07, but he was able to significantly cut down on the free passes. After posting a 4.19 BB/9 in 2022, the righty lowered that to 2.78. The next step for Faedo is to increase his workload. The 27-year-old has logged a total of just 118.1 innings across his two MLB campaigns. If Faedo can stay in the rotation all year, he could see that number climb upward rapidly, though it's no guarantee he'll stick as a starter. The Tigers should have Matt Manning (foot) and Casey Mize (elbow) rejoining the rotation, and Kenta Maeda also joined the team in the offseason. With the likes of Tarik Skubal and Reese Olson around as well, Faedo may end up on the outside looking in. As a result, his fantasy outlook is a bit murky at this point.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Might make start next week
The Tigers are considering Faedo for a spot start next week, according to Tim Dierkes of MLB Trade Rumors.
ANALYSIS
Faedo started the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Athletics, but he might be in line to make another start sooner than later. That will ultimately be determined in coming days, though fellow rookie Joey Wentz is also a candidate to make another start at some point next week. Both Wentz and Faedo will remain on the big-league roster until some of the Tigers' regular starters return from injury.
