Akeel Morris

A 10th-round pick by the Mets in the 2010 draft, Morris has spent the majority of his career bouncing around the lower levels of the minor league system. He features a three-pitch repertoire highlighted by a fastball that can reach 95 to 97 mph but often sits in the 93 to 94 range. After spending a majority of the first half of the 2016 season with the Mets' Double-A Binghamton, he was traded to the Braves for Kelly Johnson. Morris was assigned to Double-A Mississippi and pieced together a solid season. In 35.2 innings of relief, the young righty posted a 2.27 ERA with a 13.8 percent walk rate and an impressive 32.9 percent strikeout rate. He was briefly called up to the majors in August but did not see the field. Morris does not figure to be a fantasy asset in 2017, as the Braves may opt to continue his development in the minors for another year.
