Like many of his teammates in the Phillies' bullpen, Morgan's 2019 campaign was slowed by injury. A strained forearm cost the lefty nearly a month in the first half of the season, while a flexor strain cost him the final two months of the year. He was effective enough when available, posting a 3.94 ERA in 29.2 innings, the second-best mark of his career. His 24.2% strikeout rate and 8.3% walk rate rate were both slightly better than league average and both represented small steps forward from 2018, though he saw his groundball rate drop from 54.0% to 41.0%. Health will be Morgan's biggest question entering his age-30 season, as a pitcher's effectiveness following two fairly significant arm injuries can't be guaranteed. If his season is injury-free, he'll be a useful bullpen member, but he isn't particularly likely to add to his one career save.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Undergoes surgery
Morgan underwent a flexor tendon repair procedure Thursday and will require six to eight months to recover, according to Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philadelphia.
ANALYSIS
Morgan pitched in 17 games during the 2020 season, but the results weren't encouraging -- he posted a 5.54 ERA and missed some time due to shoulder fatigue, so him undergoing an offseason surgery isn't entirely surprising. He is expected to pitch at some point during the 2021 season, although it remains to be seen if he will remain with the Phillies or if he will be designated for assignment.
