2023 Fantasy Outlook
He has not met much resistance at Single-A (143 wRC+), High-A (143 wRC+) or Double-A (133 wRC+), but Zavala has the same weakness as Twins prospect Edouard Julien - he doesn't swing enough. Zavala, 22, slashed .277/.420/.453 with a 17.3 BB% and 21.0 K% while playing 81 games at High-A and 30 games at Double-A. He doesn't chase very often, but he may need to be less conservative at the plate if he is going to do enough damage to profile in left field, which is his likely home. Zavala lacks the raw power to hit 20-plus home runs with a passive approach, so he will need to make some sort of adjustment. He suffered a torn UCL during the Arizona Fall League and had a non-Tommy John procedure at the end of October. Zavala is expected to return to game action in June, either at Double-A or Triple-A.
