Napoli returned to the Rangers on a one-year deal for 2017, after enjoying success in Texas following a midseason trade to Arlington in 2015. Although he narrowly missed the 30-homer plateau last season, he was a below replacement-level player for the first time in his career. Defensively, he's limited to occasional run at first base, and a pair of injuries -- back and ankle -- cost him stretches of playing time in 2017. Last season, he had the lowest walk rate of his career (10.1 percent), which paired with his career-worst 33.6 percent strikeout rate made him an overall liability at the plate despite the aforementioned pop. Napoli's skill set is one that is rapidly declining in value across MLB, which could leave him on the outside looking in at a roster spot when teams leave spring training at the end of March. If he's on a roster, don't be surprised if his playing time slips below 400 plate appearances.
