Rest-of-Season Projections
Released by Baltimore
The Orioles released Ondrusek (elbow) Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
The right-hander recently had a scheduled visit with Dr. James Andrew to examine his elbow, and this transaction could have something to do with the injury. Now a free agent, Ondrusek may need plenty of time to heal before he's able to secure a spot with a new club.

Ondrusek's season was ruined by a shoulder injury that required a trip to the DL and made him far less effective when he returned -- he gave up 10 runs over 9.2 innings after his activation, including a five-run disaster that concluded his season on September 14. The paradox for Ondrusek is that his strikeout rate actually improved and he threw just about as hard as the year before, but he was felled by a relapse of poor control and a whopping .379 BABIP. Ondrusek signed a one-year, $1.2 million deal to play in Japan with the Yakult Swallows in 2015. At age 29, he could return to MLB if he revives his career overseas.
