Signs minor-league contract
Eibner signed a minor-league contract with the Marlins on Saturday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Eibner made three relief appearances for Miami in 2020 and gave up five runs on seven hits and four walks while striking out four in 3.1 innings. He was removed from the 40-man roster twice in September, but he'll now rejoin the organization on a minor-league deal. The right-hander will report to the alternate training site to begin the year.

Eibner earned his first major-league opportunity in 2016, helping to fill in for an injured Alex Gordon. The Royals shipped him to Oakland for Billy Burns around the trade deadline, and Eibner proceeded to hit just .165/.252/.303 in 123 plate appearances with the A's. At least that came with six home runs, as he flashed the tool he showcased the most in an otherwise unexciting minor league career. He hit .303 and .289 at the Triple-A level in 2015 and 2016, respectively, but of course, that came as a 26- and 27-year-old in the PCL, so it's not that exciting. Eibner flashed solid defense last year and high walk rates throughout his professional career, although he's pretty low on the depth chart now that he's a member of the Dodgers organization. If something were to happen to LA's regular outfielders, perhaps he would deserve a look in deep leagues where any amount of playing time matters, but there's not enough here to warrant consideration in standard formats.
