Matt McBride

For the third straight season, McBride mashed at the Triple-A level for the Rockies, slashing .305/.345/.487 while striking out only 9.2% of the time. However, as was the case when he was called up to the Rockies in 2012, McBride struggled to make contact in his taste of the big leagues last season, fanning in 12 of his 34 plate appearances. At 29 years old and with no evidence that he has the ability to adjust to major-league caliber pitching, McBride looks like a Quad-A player destined to remain on the periphery of any club’s 40-man roster. He’d have a better chance at overcoming his lack of success at the plate in the majors if he played a premium defensive position, but his status as a first base/corner outfield-type won’t give him much of a chance at claiming a bench role.
