2014 Fantasy Outlook
Rice was a feel-good story for the rebuilding version of the Mets in 2013, earning a major league role in the spring after 14 years in the minors. His season was cut short after he had hernia surgery in early September. Rice had an up-and-down season out of the Mets' bullpen, posting a 3.71 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and an ugly 41:27 K:BB ratio over 51 innings in 73 appearances. Rice was able to work around the walks because he allowed just one home run all season, and he finished the 2013 campaign with 17 holds. He was death on lefties, limiting them to a .136 BA in 138 at-bats, but righties hit .362 against him in 75 at-bats. Rice should get a chance to serve as a LOOGY for the Mets again in 2014.
