Beltre was granted his release following his removal from the 40-man roster.
ANALYSIS
Beltre was paired with Alexei Ogando in Texas' efforts to resolve a visa scandal that kept both from pitching in the United States for several year, though it's safe to say that Beltre hasn't had the impact of Ogando to date.

2011 Fantasy Outlook
Beltre was finally able to resume his professional career in the United States after being stuck in the Dominican Republic for years due to his involvement in a marriage visa scam. His first exposure to advanced competition went relatively well, allowing 69 hits and fanning 85 in 85 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City. He walked 38 batters as well, however, hinting that his future will likely be out of the bullpen (10 of his 24 appearances in the minors came in a relief role). His brief major-league experience was a disaster, and he's not being mentioned as a possible rotation candidate following Cliff Lee's departure via free agency. He could emerge as a long arm out of the bullpen with a solid spring, but the back end of the Texas bullpen is pretty well set unless Neftali Feliz or Alexei Ogando transition back to the rotation.
