Misch experienced mild success at the big league level with the Mets in 2009 and 2010, but he appeared in just six games out of the team's bullpen last season before being released. Misch started exclusively in the minors last season and figures to open 2012 in a similar role with the Phillies' Triple-A squad.
Misch pitched well at Triple-A Buffalo, going 11-4 with a 3.23 ERA and 1.158 WHIP to earn an August promotion to the Mets. Like 2009, he pitched fairly well, seeing time as a starter and a reliever, but is viewed as organizational depth. Misch will get a chance to earn a role as a lefty reliever in spring training, failing that he'll start 2011 in Triple-A as a starter.
Misch opened 2009 with the Giants, but was claimed off waivers by the Mets in June. He started in relief work, but spent the last six weeks of the year as a starter. After pitching well in his first two starts, he fell back to earth allowing 18 runs over 12.1 innings in his next three outings, before closing with back-to-back solid efforts and wins. Misch will likely open 2010 as a starter in Triple-A and could see time in New York as a starter or reliever at some point this season.
Misch is a finesse lefty without much of a fastball, so he's only an option as a long reliever. Given his skill set and the unlikelihood of him getting a long-term spot in the Giants' rotation, he's one to avoid.
Misch finished 2007 with a 4.24 ERA and a 26:12 K:BB ratio over 40.1 innings. Despite making four starts, he's not a serious option for the rotation. He'll work in middle relief this season.
Misch is a finesse lefty who probably best projects as a long reliever. The 25-year-old had a 4.02 ERA, with a 57:11 K:BB over 65 IP in Triple-A last season. He's unlikely to have much fantasy value.
Lowry-esque lefty got slapped around in his first go'round at Triple-A. A candidate for the Jamie Moyer/Doug Davis career path, so check back in 2009.
Misch had nice numbers with Double-A Norwich, including four complete games. He's a solid prospect, and certainly someone to monitor in the coming years. He'll remain in the minors for the time being, however.
The 22-year-old was a seventh rounder in 2003 and the Giants believe they found a bargain. An unsigned Astros’ pick in 2002, he doesn’t throw hard hitting the high 80s with his fastball, but is deceptive with a plus change-up, and a developed slider and curveball. He wasn’t great for short-season Salem-Keizer but his age will probably get him to Double-A by the end of the 2004 season.
