Escobar was released by the Brewers on Sunday, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
ANALYSIS
The veteran reliever was competing for a bullpen role but only received one appearance, in which he had control issues stemming from a pinched nerve in his throwing hand. The Brewers expressed further concern after an MRI on Escobar's shoulder prior to his signing created some skepticism about his health. As a result of those worries, don't expect another major league team to offer Escobar more than a low-cost minor league deal in his return bid.

With one start in two seasons thanks to a torn labrum, Escobar is basically a wild card. There's some track record of pitchers missing that kind of time and coming back Chris Carpenter, for instance but really, there's just no telling. He'll need to show he's healthy after signing with the Mets and it's not clear if he'll return to the rotation or the bullpen as a setup man.
