Rest-of-Season Projections
Opens in extended ST
Knowles is opening the year in extended spring training, Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
It seemed like Knowles did enough last year against rookie-level pitching to be given the challenge of an assignment to Low-A this year, but the Angels apparently don't think he's quite ready. He should open the year back in the Pioneer League, but should finish the year in the Midwest League.

James Anderson breaks down all the notable assignments for AL prospects and shares his excitement over Royce Lewis' hot start at Triple-A.
James Anderson ranks the fantasy-relevant prospects in each AL West farm system, including Mariners outfielder Jarred Kelenic, who could break camp on the big-league roster.
2019 Fantasy Outlook
A Bahamian center fielder who received $850K on July 2, 2017, Knowles turned heads in his pro debut, emerging as one of the top dynasty-league assets from that international signing class. He was the third-youngest hitter in the AZL but quickly earned a promotion to the Pioneer League. Despite being the youngest player in that league, he started getting to power in games (.229 ISO, .550 SLG), and while his K% spiked from 20.8% to 30.9% after the promotion, he still walked over 10% of the time and was typically three or four years younger than the pitchers he was facing. The switch hitter does most of his damage against righties (.491 SLG vs. RHP, .397 SLG vs. LHP), but still hit .317 against lefties. In addition to his developing pop, Knowles has plus speed and gets rave reviews for his intangibles. His 6-foot, 165-pound frame is perfect for his age, as he can fill out without compromising his athleticism. He may be the youngest hitter in the Midwest League this year.
