ANALYSIS
Tejeda is just 23 years old and was once a moderately interesting prospect, but he's struggled to a .220/.245/.385 line in 94 MLB plate appearances, striking out 40 times to go with just three walks. He hit .194/.266/.368 with a 41.5 percent strikeout rate in 79 games in the upper minors last season.

Tejeda got some good run in his first taste of the majors last season, playing in 23 games and logging 77 plate appearances. He hit a respectable .253, though that came with a generous .381 BABIP, and his xBA (.193) was considerably lower. It's not surprising that a 22-year-old with an aggressive approach would struggle to put the ball in play, but Tejeda's 39.0 K% is nonetheless hard to stomach, especially considering his aversion to taking a walk (2.6 BB%). Those numbers will likely inch to somewhat more palatable levels moving forward, though they paint a good picture of Tejeda's reputation as a free-swinger. He has ample home-run power and the legs to steal a handful (or two) of bases, which could give him some fantasy appeal to those willing to accept a low batting average. The Rangers appear all-in on a youth movement, though Tejeda would likely best be served by more time to develop in the minors.
