ANALYSIS
Park spent just two years with the Twins before deciding to re-join his old club in Korea. He played in Triple-A Rochester during the 2017 season, batting .253 with 14 home runs and 60 RBI in 419 at-bats. Park will likely enjoy greater success in Korea, having smashed 52 and 53 home runs in the two previous years he played for Nexen.

2016
Park began last year as Minnesota's starting DH after hitting 50 home runs in each of his previous two seasons while playing for Nexen of the Korean Baseball Organization. While he showed power in the majors with 12 home runs in 62 games, he struggled to make contact and hit just .191/.275/.409. His struggles continued in the minors as he hit just .224/.297/.526 at Triple-A in 31 games before season-ending surgery to repair a tendon in his right middle finger. Minnesota's logjam at DH and 1B may make it hard for him to reach the majors again especially after he was DFA'd in February, but he has some upside due to his power if he can reduce his strikeouts (32.8 percent) and make better contact (63 percent).
Park decided to move to MLB after spending nine seasons playing in Korea. The power-hitting first baseman collected more than 50 home runs in each of the last two seasons while playing for Nexen of the Korean Baseball Organization, batting .343/.436/.714 over 140 games with the club last year. His power should play in MLB, but he will take his share of strikeouts, as he fanned 303 times in 1,193 plate appearances over the last two seasons. Jung-Ho Kang became the first hitter to move from the KBO to MLB and he hit 15 home runs for the Pirates last season after hitting 40 home runs the previous year in South Korea, showing Park could produce right away in the majors. He'll get a chance to win regular playing time at DH after signing a four-year, $12 million contract with Minnesota.
