2016 Fantasy Outlook
In the never-ending quest for cheap speed, Mejia fits the bill in dynasty leagues. He is a long way from the majors, but there is no doubting his ability to wreak havoc on the basepaths. The 20-year-old outfielder followed up a 72-steal campaign in 2014 with 40 steals in 59 games across rookie ball and the New York-Penn League. Mejia’s speed also aided him in posting a .344/.410/.393 slash line across two levels in 2015. In addition to offering plus-plus speed, Mejia has also demonstrated a superb approach, posting a 78:73 K:BB in 129 games as a professional. This is a Ben Revere-esque profile, with almost no power to speak of, but if he can continue to post high on-base percentages as he moves up the organizational ladder, there will be the potential for 40-plus steals here when Mejia reaches the majors.
