Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Ellington has yet to solidify himself in the Marlins bullpen, seeing only brief stints in the majors over each of the last two seasons. Over that span, however, the 26-year-old has posted a productive 2.64 ERA in 58.0 innings of work. Despite his promising ERA, the righty has struggled with control at both levels, posting a 5.6 BB/9 rate over a combined 67.2 innings in the majors and minors in 2016. With his four-seam fastball consistently registering north of 98 mph, Ellington has shown he has the tools to be a serviceable reliever with high strikeout potential if he can improve his command. Although the backend of the Marlins bullpen is maintained by All-Star closer A.J. Ramos, Miami's decision not to pick up the option of reliever Fernando Rodney could prove essential for Ellington's 2017 potential.
