Rest-of-Season Projections
Promoted to High-A
Jenkins was promoted to High-A Down East, Mark Parker of the Hickory Record reports.
ANALYSIS
The 21-year-old Jenkins showed improvement at the plate during his third tour at Low-A Hickory, batting .291 while leading the South Atlantic League with 16 steals. He's got the wheels that will play in the majors, but questions linger about his hit tool. After more than 950 plate appearances at that level, a promotion to High-A seemed overdue.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
A high school bat drafted out of North Carolina in the second round of the 2015 draft, the Rangers threw Jenkins right into the fire in 2016. The teenager played 126 games for Low-A Hickory. Though he batted just .220, there are plenty of positive takeaways for Jenkins, who remains largely projection and potential at this time. He stole 51 bases (on 66 attempts) to lead the South Atlantic League. Jenkins also managed to hit eight home runs, but power is not expected to be a major part of his game when he reaches the majors. He fanned 157 times over those 126 games, and while those struggles are not uncommon for a hitter coming straight out of high school, questions about his hit tool were the reason he fell to the second round. Jenkins also managed to draw 40 walks, so the makings of a solid approach are there. His plus-plus wheels are the main selling point for dynasty league owners, but his bat will need to improve in order for him to profile as an everyday player.
