Jon Harris

A 2.73 ERA and 1.16 WHIP in 16 starts with Low-A Lansing to begin 2016 earned Harris a promotion to High-A Dunedin in late July and upped his prospect stock in dynasty leagues. Harris, a first-round pick in 2015, held his own against High-A competition but saw his strikeout rate fall to 5.2 K/9 -- a troubling sign given his age relative to level and his pedigree. On the plus side, Harris has been extremely effective in limiting the long ball so far as a professional (four home runs allowed in 165.2 innings) although he's not a heavy groundball pitcher. That speaks to the amount of lazy contact he induces by mixing in three quality secondary offerings. He also displayed steady control and successfully built up a solid innings base of 129.2 frames. The inevitable promotion to Double-A in 2017 will prove an important test for the right-hander. He has No. 3 or No. 4 starter upside.
