2016 Fantasy Outlook
Whenever a first base prospect posts back-to-back 20-plus homer seasons at age appropriate levels, the dynasty league community is obligated to take notice. This is the case with Rodriguez, who blasted 21 homers from the right side while slashing .245/.328/.452 in 133 games between High-A and Double-A in 2015. It is worth noting that those numbers are really hurt by an awful first crack against Double-A pitching, where Rodriguez hit .118 with 37 strikeouts in 25 games. However, that was a small sample and he will head back to Double-A as a 21-year-old, so it’s too early to say he can’t handle upper level pitching. The offensive profile probably won’t end up being enough for him to make it as more than a quad-A type, but Rodriguez has at least earned another year on the periphery of the first base prospect scene.
