Past Fantasy Outlooks

2016
Despite being ranked as one of the Orioles' top prospects for the last three years, Reyes is younger than this past draft's college talent, and will head to Double-A for his age-21 season. Surgery to repair a broken pinky finger limited him to just 50 games in a repeat tour of the Carolina League. He passed the test this time around, posting a 114 wRC+ as one of the league's five youngest position players. The selling point with the burly third baseman is his 70-grade raw power, which has yet to manifest in games on a regular basis. He doesn't strike out as often as the typical young slugger (16.1 percent), but also rarely walks (4.1 percent) -- a trait disturbingly shared by the Orioles' other top hitting prospects. His 6-foot-3, 220-pound frame is already pushing it at third base, and it would not be surprising if he is regularly deployed as a designated hitter early in his big-league career. All the physical tools are there for him to succeed in such a role.
