August 26, 2017
Ogando (shoulder) was activated from the disabled list and outrighted to Triple-A Louisville on Saturday.
ANALYSIS
Ogando has been on the disabled list all season, so it makes sense that the Reds would like him to spend an extended period of time with their Triple-A affiliate before entertaining the thought of bringing him up to the majors. If Ogando does make his way up to the big club this season, he'll likely be used in low-leverage situations.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2016
Ogando put together an impressive performance in his abbreviated stint with the Marlins in 2016. Despite spending two-thirds of his season with Triple-A New Orleans, the 27-year-old reliever made the most of his time in Miami, posting a 2.30 ERA in 15.2 innings of work. Interestingly enough, Ogando was able to have success in the big leagues without generating a ton of strikeouts, which was evidenced by his 4.60 K/9. Additionally, his walk rate of 4.60 percent was also unspectacular. It would appear that luck had at least a little to do with Ogando's impressive ERA considering that his .204 BABIP was the lowest of his career in any season, minors or majors. That number will almost certainly come down in 2017, which will likely lead to at least mild regressions in his other numbers as well. Nonetheless, Ogando's stint with Miami in 2016 put himself on the map, and if he can even come close to the ERA he produced in 2016, he could land a low-leverage role in the bullpen. The Marlins designated him for assignment due to his control issues, but he could fight for a back-end bullpen spot now that he's a member of the Reds organization.
Ogando saw action in just four games with the Phillies last season. He spent the majority of the year between Double-A and Triple-A where he had a 2.89 ERA and a 55:31 K:BB ratio in 63 innings. Ogando can hit the upper-90s with his fastball but he struggles to command his pitches. The Marlins will give him a chance to earn a bullpen job this spring after claiming him off waivers in the offseason.
