Rest-of-Season Projections
Advances to Triple-A
Featherston was promoted to Triple-A Omaha on Friday, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
The 29-year-old has spent 102 games this season at Double-A, slashing .240/.292/.404 with 13 homers and 49 RBI for Northwest Arkansas, but roster shuffling above him in the organization has now allowed him to move up to Triple-A. His last big-league appearance dates back to the 2017 campaign with the Rays, when he struggled to a .179 average with two home runs and six RBI over 17 contests.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
Featherston made the roster as a backup infielder out of camp in 2015, but was unable to rise above that designation, hitting just .210/.234/.323 in 62 at-bats while incumbent Johnny Giavotella was recovering from an illness in September. He had shown power throughout his minor league career prior to 2015, but notched just seven extra-base hits in 101 games with the big club, and failed to show pop during his time in the friendly confines of the Pacific Coast League while recovering from a back strain. All indications are that Giavotella is healthy heading into 2016, meaning he will likely return to his job at the keystone in April. Featherston could be worth watching to see if his power materializes in a limited role, as it could lead to a shot at playing time given the inexperience of the infield.
