2015 Fantasy Outlook
Binford made a rapid rise though the Kansas City farm system in 2014, and was able to post a 2.88 ERA and 1.10 WHIP through three levels before eventually finishing up the season at Triple-A Omaha. The 22-year-old right-hander pitched primarily out of the bullpen at the Triple-A level, which many thought may have been in preparation for the team using him as a reliever during their prospective playoff run. Although this never came to fruition, Binford remains an intriguing prospect due to his excellent command (139:22 K:BB ratio across three levels) and ability to keep the ball in the park (0.5 career HR/9 rate). His size (6-foot-7, 215 pounds) makes him an intimidating presence on the mound, though his fastball does top out in the 90-92 mph range. Look for him to once again begin the season in Triple-A Omaha, though he could be called up for bullpen assistance or the occasional spot start in 2015.
