Diaz was traded to the Yankees on Wednesday.
ANALYSIS
Diaz is toiling through a rough season in the minors, batting just .182/.348/.239 through 37 games, but the Yankees will bring him back after he spent all of 2016 with their Triple-A affiliate, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 32-year-old likely serves as organizational depth, as he hasn't made big-league appearance since 2015.

2016 Fantasy Outlook
A once-promising prospect, Diaz’s window for becoming a major league player seems to have rapidly closed. Now 30 years old, Diaz played in seven major league games last year, going 2-for-13 at the plate with two RBI. He spent most of the season at Triple-A Buffalo, where he slashed .223/.328/.284 with two home runs, 23 RBI, and seven stolen bases in 10 tries in 118 games. Diaz has flirted with the MLB on three separate occasions, playing in 35 total games, but getting only 65 plate appearances in that time span. After working through the lowest levels of the minors quickly thanks to a strong college career, he’s played 484 games in Triple-A, giving him the look and feel of a career minor leaguer. Without much power — 20 home runs in 1,146 games at all levels — in addition to not being a strong base stealer or particularly quick, Diaz’s ceiling is likely an emergency middle infield replacement for whichever team signs him this offseason.
