Gets invite to Brewers' camp
CMilwaukee Brewers
January 9, 2020
Gosewich signed a minor-league contract with the Brewers on Thursday as a non-roster invitee.
ANALYSIS
Gosewich spent last season with Triple-A San Antonio after he failed to secure a spot on the Brewers' major-league roster. He'll get the chance to compete in major-league spring training again in 2020 after slashing .205/.299/.308 with three home runs and nine RBI over 49 games at the Triple-A level last year.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2017
2015
2014
Gosewisch will likely enter 2017 as Atlanta's No. 4 catcher after he was claimed off waivers from Arizona. Tyler Flowers is entrenched as the starter, Anthony Recker was solid last year in a reserve role, and the Braves also went out and acquired Kurt Suzuki over the offseason. Gosewich will begin the season as a 33-year-old with a career .199/.237/.286 slash line, so it's probably unreasonable to expect big offensive numbers from him at this point. If Flowers, Suzuki, or Recker goes down, Gosewisch would probably get the call, but even then, he projects as a reserve player who would probably only play once or twice a week. Gosewisch doesn't look like a huge fantasy contributor in 2017 and should open the year at Triple-A.
While on the active roster for all 162 games, Gosewisch made just 41 appearances in 2014 (132 plate appearances), as Miguel Montero dominated the workload behind the plate for Arizona. Gosewisch did next to nothing in his limited opportunities with the bat, drawing three walks and grounding into six double plays, which isn't surpising in the least considering his record in the upper levels of the minors (.243/.294/.383 in three seasons at Triple-A). To his credit, Gosewisch is a serviceable defender, and there's nobody in the system that's a threat to his backup role in the short-term, but he's a barely-above-replacement-level talent and not worthy of serious fantasy consideration.
Gosewisch spent most of 2013 at Triple-A Reno, where he hit .284/.327/.456 over 250 at-bats as a 29-year-old. He'll compete with veteran Henry Blanco to back up Miguel Montero this season, a role that figures to yield very little playing time as long as Montero manages to avoid injury.
