Cut loose by Twins
Ramsey was released by Minnesota on Wednesday, Brandon Warne of Zone Coverage reports.
ANALYSIS
Ramsey split his time between the Double- and Triple-A level for the Twins in 2018. During 22 contests with Triple-A Rochester, he hit .240/.305/.267, adding just six RBI and a pair of extra-base hits. Ramsey will look to latch on and provide organizational depth with another club.

Trades are not typically as beneficial for a player's value as the Justin Masterson deal that sent Ramsey from St. Louis to Cleveland at the trade deadline. Ramsey, who profiles as a corner outfielder, would have probably languished in the minor leagues for another year or two with the Cardinals, but Cleveland has a much shallower farm system, and a wide open spot in right field at the big league level. He slashed .300/.389/.527 in 67 games at Double-A prior to the trade, and was immediately sent to Triple-A Columbus with the Indians, where he hit .284/.365/.468 in 28 games. It’s worth noting that Ramsey’s BABIP at both stops was above .360, so that level of production should not be expected in 2015, but there’s still enough production here to keep Ramsey in mind as a potential midseason callup with 10-20 homer potential over a full season.
