Cory Burns

Burns made the jump from Double-A Akron in the Indians organization in 2011 to Triple-A Tucson with the Padres in 2012. What he produced while in Tucson was largely a repeat of what he did in Akron, as he struck out nearly 30 percent of the batters he faced and walked just 6.6 percent of them. When he got his shot at the majors in August, his control failed him and the results were not pretty. Still, there is good reason to think when he gets his next chance in the majors, he will build on his time in the minors and show the elite command he is capable of. That chance will likely come with the Rangers after he was acquired by Texas in November.
