Bour played regularly for the Angels early on while Shohei Ohtani was still sidelined, but he hit just .163/.268/.316 over the first month and a half of 2019 and was ultimately banished to the minor leagues. He returned in June but was demoted again shortly after the All-Star break, and Bour went on to log a mere nine at-bats in September before being outrighted off the 40-man roster. Bour's strikeout rate has gradually increased from 17.4% all the way to 30.6% over the last three seasons, and his line-drive rate sank to just 14% last year. He can take a walk (career 11.2%) and there's usually a longer shelf life for lefty sluggers -- even ones with limited defensive value -- but chances are Bour will have to settle for a minor-league contract in free agency and there's no guarantee he'll be on a major-league roster on Opening Day.

The Angels are unlikely to tender Bour a contract in 2020, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
ANALYSIS
Bour endured a trying season, slashing just .172/.259/.364 in 170 major-league plate appearances, 59 fewer than he had at Triple-A Salt Lake. The 31-year-old will have to fix the holes in his swing to claw his way back into a significant role for 2020.
