Parker emerged from spring training occupying the top side of the Giants' left-field platoon, but he suffered a broken collarbone in mid-April. Neck issues delayed his return until August. Excitement over Parker's 2015 debut (.347, six homers in 54 plate appearances) has eroded, because while he has shown patience in the past (12.6 percent walk rate over 151 plate appearances in 2016), his 31.2 career strikeout percentage is an eye sore, even in today's landscape. His 50.5 career groundball percentage is also worrisome for his power ceiling. The 28-year-old thrives against right-handers (career .828 OPS and .353 wOBA), but hasn't shown any signs of figuring out lefties. While he should be ready for spring training after having a plate removed from his clavicle, Parker's window for frequent playing time may close unless he bounces back in exhibition play.
