The Nationals released Kobernus on Tuesday.
ANALYSIS
Just a few days after optioning him to Triple-A, the organization apparently decided he wasn't in their long-term plans and elected to give Kobernus a chance to catch on with another club this spring.

Past Fantasy Outlooks

Given the injuries the Nationals had last year, Kobernus seemingly would have gotten more of an opportunity on the big league roster, but alas the speedy utility player was among the first to go down. He was hit by a pitch at Triple-A, resulting in a broken hand, and didn't return to action until the end of June. Kobernus was unable to get much going at the plate after he came off the DL, but he is capable of playing solid defense at a few positions, making contact, and stealing some bases. With second base still technically open on the Nats' depth chart, he could head into spring training competing for a starting job, but it seems more likely he'll have to head back to Triple-A and wait for another call.
