Signed to a minor-league deal in November, Shuck will attend major-league camp for spring training and attempt to earn a role in the Marlins' stripped-down outfield. He's mostly served as depth in the minors over the past several seasons, but it's certainly not out of the question that Shuck could emerge with a big-league job considering the lack of MLB-ready talent in the organization. Shuck spent all of last season with the Twins' Triple-A Rochester affiliate, compiling a wholly underwhelming .259/.325/.368 line, with those rate stats coming in well below his career marks at the Triple-A level (.291/.363/.382). He makes consistent contact (career 10.1 percent strikeout rate), but Shuck has never walked much in the majors and his speed has pretty much dried up at 30 years old. This is not a skill set worth speculating on.
