PTexas Rangers
October 31, 2014
Figaro has been assigned to Triple-A Round Rock, Rangers vice president John Blake announced.
ANALYSIS
Figaro was never probably going to be more than organizational depth in the short term, as he was solid in Triple-A (3.70 ERA in 70.1 innings) but got knocked around in a short majors stint. He could still see the majors if he looks good at Round Rock.

Past Fantasy Outlooks
2014
2010
After a successful two-year stint in Japan, Figaro returned to the major leagues last season with the Brewers. He started five games, basically out of necessity, and posted a 6.48 ERA. However, he fared very well in relief, posting a 2.94 ERA while serving as the Brewers’ long man for the majority of the season. Given the difference in the splits, it’s a near certainty that Figaro will open as a reliever in 2014. Unless the injury bug plagues the rotation again, expect him to remain there for the duration of the campaign.
After a brief six-game stint with Double-A Erie, Figaro made his major league debut with the Tigers last season. The 25-year-old right-hander showed off the ability to make batters miss with a decent fastball in his five appearances (three starts), but he’ll need to improve his secondary pitches and command (10 walks in 17 innings) to become a reliable option at the big league level. Look for Figaro to log more innings at the higher minor league levels before being a possible midseason injury replacement for the Tigers.
