2016 Fantasy Outlook
Dorn fits the bill as the prototypical Quadruple-A player. While he got a chance in Arizona for a bit, playing in 23 games, he hit just .167 in 30 at-bats. However, for Triple-A Reno, Dorn hit for a mammoth .386/.444/.618 line with 39 extra-base hits, 57 runs, 10 home runs, and 53 RBI in just 75 games. Dorn was traded to Toronto in the deal that netted them Cliff Pennington, but Dorn cooled off for Triple-A Buffalo, collecting just five hits in 24 plate appearances. He has played a whopping 727 games at the Triple-A level, hitting for an .840 OPS in that span, but has just gotten the 23 major league games under his belt from this past season, a tryout that ended rather poorly for the rapidly aging outfielder. Dorn will likely provide organizational depth wherever he ends up and could see more time in the big leagues with a strong spring training and some injuries ahead of him, but he can’t be counted on to provide the same kind of offense that he has produced at Triple-A.
