Schmitt opened 2024 in the minors and never received consistent opportunities with the Giants, but he performed well at the plate when called upon with six homers and a .760 OPS in 40 games. He also enjoyed a strong campaign at Triple-A Sacramento, where he had 13 home runs, 11 steals and a .271/.340/.466 slash line in 74 contests. He saw action at second base, third base and shortstop, but all three positions are locked down after San Francisco signed Willy Adames in December. Schmitt should open 2025 as a reserve infielder for the Giants and likely won't have a regular role if the big-league infield stays healthy. Read Past Outlooks
