Williams didn't make his season debut with the Guardians in July after working his way back from an elbow injury suffered during spring training. While the big right-hander never really got on a roll, he pitched better than his 4.86 ERA would suggest, as his 4.14 xERA, 4.19 SIERA and 3.67 FIP indicates. Williams' strikeout prowess in the minors (33.3 percent) has not yet carried over to the major-league level (23.6 percent), and his walk rate is hovering above 10 percent with the Guardians, as well. The 25-year-old seems to still be searching for the right pitch mix, as he introduced a cutter and used a curveball as his primary breaking ball in 2024 after a slider was his main breaking pitch in 2023. Williams' pedigree and the Guardians' pitching development track record points to the righty taking a step forward eventually, and perhaps as soon as 2025. Read Past Outlooks
