Heaney once ranked among the top pitching prospects in the sport, but he's typically been more of an off-and-on fantasy streaming consideration rather than a reliable rotation option. The 32-year-old left-hander can at least point to the big World Series ring on his finger as he enters his 11th major-league season, along with the $13 million he's owed after exercising his 2024 player option with the reigning-champion Rangers. He would appear to be locked into an Opening Day rotation spot with Max Scherzer (back), Jacob deGrom (elbow) and Tyler Mahle (elbow) all on the mend through the season's first couple of months, but Heaney took a step back with his walk rate last year and remains a volatile pitcher both in role and effectiveness.
