Vargas ran out of chances with the Dodgers and was traded to the White Sox at the deadline. It was a big change from one end of the competitive spectrum to the other and he might have been in shock if his numbers following the move are any indication (.104/.217/.170 in 154 plate appearances). He's still just 25 years old, but Vargas has lost whatever shine he had as a prospect. At least he maintained his patience amidst his struggles and continued to walk roughly 10 percent of the time last season. The White Sox are evaluating for the future and figure to give Vargas, who's out of minor-league options, another look at third base to see if there might be anything there.
